Wood is a natural, sustainable and recyclable material with a wide range of applications. Wood has long held a natural place in our homes and gardens, in the form of flooring, mouldings, cladding, decking, fencing and so on. Wood is also a popular and proven construction material.

About wood

Wood is historically our most important construction material by far. It retained its importance throughout the 20th century, but its use has been confined to smaller buildings, due to building regulations and strong advances by alternative construction materials.

Research into wood and moisture

Research into wood and construction is an important issue for Swedish Wood. We work actively to influence Swedish research policy so that more resources are invested in research, development and innovation (RD&I) within our sector.
