Architecture in wood 2020.The Swedish Wood Award is an architectural award established by Swedish Wood and represents one of Sweden’s most highly recognised and well-known architectural competitions. The book series Design of timber structure Volume 1-3 fills a long-standing gap within the Swedish field of timber engineering. The books are mainly produced for active structural engineers and for students at technical universities and institutes of higher education in Sweden. Researchers, architects, students of lower technical education and people with a general interest in learning how to design timber structures or just increase their knowledge of the building material timber, could benefit from parts of the content.

Guide to assessing CLT surface quality. Over the past decade, cross laminated timber (CLT) has become a popular choice in construction. More and more projects are specifying CLT, as an attractive, sustainable, high quality and competitive construction material. CLT is now used for the structural frame in all kinds of buildings, including apartment blocks, schools, administrative buildings, commercial buildings, halls and car parks.
Covers 24 pages and is in A4 format.

Guide to CLT in the early stages. This publication will guide you in words and pictures through the key considerations in the early stages of designing and constructing a CLT building.

It gives you an insight into different building systems, their advantages and disadvantages, and when they are most appropriate. The publication gives you rules of thumb for dimensions and thicknesses and for the const ruction of walls, ceilings and floors. It also provides tips on what to consider f or water, heating and sanitary piping, stabilisation against horizontal wind loads, ground floor design and foundation design. In addition, the publication gives examples of possibilities and limitations in terms of construction, architecture and production.

Joinery Handbook. The content of the Joinery Handbook is aimed at both small carpenters and students, but also at the larger companies working in the production and design of furniture and furnishings in mainly softwood. Ten Points for Timber on Top. Densification through upward extensions with a minimal carbon footprint.

Wood is light. Wood is flexible. Wood is attractive. Wood is ideal for upward extensions! This Timber on Top approach has the potential to be a sustainable tool in our transition to a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 – a concrete way to contribute to the European Green Deal.

In this document, we present ten key arguments – Ten Points for Timber on Top.

  • Volume 3 gives a number of example calculations for the most com mon glulam structures.
  • Volume 4 provides knowledge on the planning and assembly of glul am structures.
