Swedish Wood recruits new director

Anna Ryberg Ågren, currently CEO of building materials organisation Byggmaterialindustrierna, will become Director of Swedish Wood on 1 December. In taking on the leadership of this industry body, Anna can draw on her extensive experience in environmental issues, sustainability and urban development.

“I’m going to enjoy continuing to develop Swedish Wood together with its employees and the wider industry. Swedish Wood plays a vital role in realising the full potential of wood and wood construction,” comments Anna Ryberg Ågren.

Anna has spent 25 years working on environmental and sustainability issues, primarily in the construction industry with a focus on sustainable materials and climate-smart building. Previous roles have included sustainability manager at Derome and many years of responsibility for Sustainable Building at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institutes.

“We are immensely pleased to have recruited Anna Ryberg Ågren for Swedish Wood, which is a key part of our organisation. Swedish Wood is a strong force in the pursuit of a sustainable society and we are seeing the power of wood construction to drive the green transition. We would also like to thank Mathias Fridholm for leading Swedish Wood in a very positive direction,” says Viveka Beckeman, CEO of the Swedish Forest Industries Federation.

Anna Ryberg Ågren succeeds Mathias Fridholm, who has been Director of Swedish Wood since 2019.

“After four eventful and positive years at Swedish Wood, I have no doubt that the advancement of wood – and wood construction in particular – is going to continue. We have come a long way, but there are always new requirements and new challenges around the corner. On these issues, the people at Swedish Wood are a fantastic resource for the industry,” says Mathias Fridholm, Director of Swedish Wood.
