District cooling centre at Medicinareberget

Jury’s statement - District cooling centre at Medicinareberget:

Infrastructure. We can’t do without it, but would prefer not to have to think about it. And so these utility buildings become anonymous afterthoughts, carelessly executed. Except for the district cooling centre at Campus Medicinareberget in Gothenburg, which is clad in pine shingles – the dome has been given as much care and attention as a church roof – and boasts a beautifully curved south-facing sun trap of tiered seating. A beautiful conversation piece placed right on the boundary between the city’s residential area and the university buildings up on the hill. This is how it should be done!
