Jury’s statement - Villa Meltem:
Walking around Villa Meltem is like stepping straight into the grammar of architecture and experiencing the broad palette that exists but is all too rarely employed. The house cannot be grasped in one go, but gradually reveals itself. There are all kinds of spaces here, from closed to semi-open rooms, under a roof or sheltered from the wind. You move from rooms with double-height ceilings to narrow, low rooms where you sit close to the floor. It is a voyage of discovery for the senses, travelling without going anywhere, and wood is your constant companion.
