Jury’s statement - Höghult:
The road curves gently through the forest. Suddenly the landscape opens up and slopes down to a beautiful lake. There at the crest of the hill stands a log cabin for our time. A beautifully proportioned modern take on the local “parstuga”, a cottage of two halves. Parallel with this enclosed building, on a half-metre incline, is a partially glazed building with an exposed timber frame. The composition is ingenious. Combining established construction principles in a new way, twisting proportions and daring to be simple, as this project has done, shows that even a minor project can become a major architectural triumph.
