"Cocoon"

Some of Sweden's most current wooden furniture designers will present their furniture in Swedish pine.

Julia Gamborg Nielsen creates sculptural furniture with influences from the animal world. She has exhibited the work in places like Milan, New York and Stockholm. Julia claims that working with pine brings out her creative and artistic process.

“Working with pine, being able to pick the wood directly from the forest gives me a kind of sense of power. You are not dependent on other people, but you can with very simple means like an ax or a knife create anything from appliances to exclusive furniture. Pine is an incredible alive materials so one must be sensitive and humble, as if you are working together with the material.” – Julia Gamborg
