The aim is to inspire and inform people about how new technology and creativity can be used to develop pine interiors with an innovative look. With so many designers wanting to create exclusive designer furniture in a sustainable way, interest in sustainable materials such as pine is growing.

This is according to a new study of opinions on interior pine products, conducted as a research project within the Swedish strategic innovation programme, BioInnovation. The organisers of the study are industry organisation Swedish Wood, Linköping University and Luleå University of Technology.

  PRESS RELEASE More people want visible knots in wood flooring and wall cladding than want knot-free wood; many prefer pine for their wood floors; the majority want wood in one or more places in the home; and style preferences for interior design are relatively similar across Europe. These are the conclusions of a new study on interior pine products in the home. The organisers of the study are industry organisation Swedish Wood, Linköping University and Luleå University of Technology. The study was conducted as part of the research and Swedish innovation programme, BioInnovation.

  Colourful Swedish pine showcases Scandinavian design at the London Design Fair

  PRESS RELEASE With its innovative, pink stained wood, the Swedish Design Pavilion attracted a great deal of attention at the London Design Fair. The wooden pavilion allowed industry organisation Swedish Wood to display the potential of pine, while also promoting contemporary Swedish design, as the pine structure created a showcase for Swedish design companies over the course of the fair in September.

  Shanghai fair confirms the furniture industry’s interest in Swedish sawn timber

  PRESS RELEASE In September Swedish Wood participated in the FMC fair in Shanghai, China, together with 10 of its member companies representing the Swedish sawmill industry. The booth has become a hub for visitors and production companies from all over China.

  Singaporean students at KTH Royal Institute of Technology identify new applications for Swedish pine

  PRESS RELEASE In collaboration with industry organisation Swedish Wood, 27 students on the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management programme at KTH, most of them from Singapore, were asked to develop applications for Swedish pine. Creative solutions to social problems and strong ties to both nature and health can be seen in what the students produced.
